Our darling Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother Passed away on 10 August. I was priviledged to be with her as she left this world. Grandad, A. Katie, Liarne & Sheena were also there. We were able to spend time with her afterwards too just stroking her hair & her face and thanking her for being our mother. Earlier that day Mum had said that she was just so tired.
Thank you to everybody for such a wonderful day yesterday. The day was so special & poignant. It was so easy to see the special qualities that she always saw in each of us.
Uncle Michaels’s eulogy described our Mum and Nanna perfectly. It was good to hear all that affectionate laughter.
Tamati, I have seen your blog. There is no room for any guilt. I also feel that I should have spent more time with her. Nanna understood that we all had lives to live. I’m sure she felt the same way when her Mum died.
She loved us all equally. Never did she speak of a favourite. I think we were all her favourites.
I sat in her chair at her cottage a day or two before she died and realised why she loved to sit there. Right in front of her on the cabinet were photos of us all. You could feel the warmth and love of that spot.
Nanna’s biggest concern was that she would be leaving Grandad alone and asked that we look after him. Uncle Tom has told me that the next month will be incredibly hard on Grandad so we must all remember to call him frequently.
He has learned to use his mobile phone so a text message now & again if you cannot call him will be fine.
Lots of love for now to everybody ……(Auntie) Anne
